Hey Alyssa! I love what you just wrote. You have expressed perfectly the unexpected aspects of studying abroad which made it, for me, one of the most valuable life experiences I have ever had. I came away from my year abroad with such a sense of achievement, a sense of my own capabilities and a confidence which has stayed with until today (nearly 7 years on!). Whilst my classes taught me a great deal it was truly the simple everyday aspects of living abroad that had the most profound meaning for me. Catching myself speaking the language without thinking about it, knowing my way around the streets like it was my home town, eating like a local - these are the things that opened my eyes to a whole different way of life. It was an amazing year, I can only recommend that everyone with the opportunity to study abroad snaps it up. I'm sure you'll agree Alyssa, that it is something you will never regret!
